Everybody is a Star was born from a simple yet powerful idea. It all began when California filmmaker and music producer Peter McEvilley created a music video for a special needs artist as part of a senior class project. The experience was so transformative that McEvilley, alongside music industry veteran Howard Sapper, founded Everybody is a Star—a nonprofit dedicated to giving special needs artists a platform to shine.
Through professional-quality music videos shared online, the organization has helped dancers, singers, DJs, concert pianists, audiovisual artists, playwrights, and singer-songwriters showcase their talents on a national stage. Sapper also organized high-profile performances at major sports events and festivals, fostering a vibrant artistic community where special needs performers gain confidence, recognition, and a sense of belonging.
